New Oz Immigration Record- Over Half a Million Foreign Students Studying in Australia

As per the latest official reports, record just over half a million foreign students got enrolled in different courses of study in the Oz in the year 2016. This has been a part of Australia’s immigration policy as well as the DIBP (Department of Immigration and Border Protection) issued record number of student visas in the first half of the FY 2016.

He confirmed the fact that education sector remains Australia 3rd biggest export industry and hence, government will continue to make efforts to enhance and improve Australia’s education sector. He further pointed out that education industry of Australia is producing great benefits for the economy and growth, as the education export of the country has rocketed to just over $21 billion.

Criteria for International Students

To become eligible for Australian Student visa, the candidates needs to be accepted by an Educational institution of Australia to study in any of the courses prescribed by CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students.

Moreover, the Australian student visa aspirants also need to meet the other key criteria, i.e. English language skills, financial ability, health and character requisites, and enrolment for the health insurance, etc.

The DIBP has not imposed any limit on annual issuance of student visas to the internationals students.
